My last project with Lazy 8 was the ambitious, experimental "Extrasolar." As sole full-time artist I was once again responsible for the vast majority of visual content, which included video and motion graphics, UI/UX design, 3D asset production, terrain, sky & lighting, and designing tools for procedural systems used to populate the 3D alien environment. I also managed a small team of outsourcers for concept art and creature work.
Here are some UI examples. A primary goal of the design was to make the player feel as if they were interacting with a real, scientific agency over the web.
Extrasolar received nominations at Indiecade and SXSW, as well as a Nuovo nomination in the IGF.
